I would knead the unswallowed lumps back down

til’ our knitted brows lay smooth again

together we could untie the knots tangled in our guts

so our chests can be refilled with sparkling new treasures

Then, when unexpected wings burst from our lightened backs

we’ll simply know that sweet whispering wind is not far behind

just waiting to lift us skyward

Someday I’ll no longer be tethered

like the little blonde girl with purse of red patent leather

when someone like you stole all

her young heart’s most-valued treasures

Untethered, if ever that relentless storm

again, crashes down unmeasured

And although I’ve grown only

a small set of feathers

I now know, they are built to repel

all manner of hell; doing it really, really well

 Still stronger, they’ll grow

preparing for a case of the never-say-never

when they will lift me up

to fly freely through, any type of inclement weather

The eight semi-clear panes of the kitchen window

filter many unresolved and repeating thoughts

which drift soundlessly from my multi-caverned head

into the crisp, clear, breathtakingly deep, blue sky

that you always fill so completely

every time I remember you

and that you’ve died

But I can never figure out why

Open the windows of your shuttered mind

to the unencumbered breeze of fresh thought

Let it gently spread; swirling through half-opened

doors into darkened corners to remove

the stale, stagnant, settled dust of the past

allowing for very good use of the space

I am the sum of my parts

I am part of the sum

 enlarged heart

I am a speck of sand

I am as vast as the ocean

two open hands

I am too lost to find

I am in your eyes

small mind

I am all

I am nothing

humble soul

I am you

bedroom

Though it was never to be

I still believe mine seemed

the better dream

for you, for me

Simple, but pure

where nothing was obscure

Full and whole

with peace, unity, bliss; the goals

And love, always at the core

no need for anything more

Yes, I protest

Mine was the best

Days run past

hurrying around the bend

I can’t grab on that fast

as they slip away in the wind

I don’t see where they go

but, definitely out of my view

If only their pace would slow

then, these far betweens may become few
