Yesterday, when I was walking

it was as though I could hear nature talking

This is what she said:

Ok, you beauties; my sweet color-changing trees

today’s the day; so everyone, drop your leaves

No need to hang on to that weight

Be free, let loose; the season will no longer wait

Now, all these winds will pass through that space

with no mark on your bared limbs, not even a trace

The high whistling of your summer has quieted down

Now the rustling below has become the most wonderful sound

Love lingers on, even

after much of hope has passed away

with time, and the earth seems

flat again; it’s sharp edges cutting deep

 Still, some continue to struggle

in contradiction of the calm

that peace desperately needs to breathe

Confrontation has no part in the nature

of love and peace, therefore

it is never true when one says

they are fighting a war for peace

My heart is full

full of  love and pain

(pour it out)

pain from unrequited love

love that should never be fought for

(an angry shout)

for fighting goes against

against love’s very nature

nature, that beautiful place of peace

(this is the route)

peace which brings us back to the truth

truth made with pure love

(no room for doubt)

love so pure, there can be no pain

pain is for yesterday’s sorrows

(fading out)

sorrows forgotten, in tomorrow’s door to hope

hope opens my heart

(love alone, dances about)

Green is the new brown

covering all things bare; the ground

Clear blue, the new grey

dull becomes a bright, shiny day

Buds begin to flower

more color by the hour

The dead, revived

I AM ALIVE

Simplicity

Flower smiles at sun
Bee arrives for a visit
Nature’s communion

Peace sways green in the wind

among sunlit blooms and tender new leaves

while blue sky heavens fill the open spaces

a view framed by my bedroom’s double window

Leafy crepe myrtle branches wave

in gestures that seemingly tease

as I am drawn outside

unifying me with the beauty

that surrounds at each turning degree

Nature and I are one
