In this moment I am alive
There is no next, or one before
I am the open door
I watch, I hear the falling rain
There is no pain; no need for gain

The birdies are all here
distraction abounds
young hatchlings test wings
screeches, the sounds
We attempt to keep up
as time rushes past
but to stay in the moment
one need not move fast
All fall back, in this tree
of summer days gone by
the new, shared with songs
’til again, some will fly
You were the one
that floated away
from a pool of blood
to the warm salty ocean
You were the brave one
not even waiting to know
what sort of limbs
might be needed
You never wasted
a single moment on
thought of this world
as you gave yourself
to dying, before
your life began
Wherever your
spirit is now
I hope I can one day
find the stream
that will carry me
back to you
