Days run past

hurrying around the bend

I can’t grab on that fast

as they slip away in the wind

I don’t see where they go

but, definitely out of my view

If only their pace would slow

then, these far betweens may become few

While you are waiting

for tomorrow

’til sorrow has passed

time is running away

Days gone, will never

come back

They lack the means

that’s the price they must pay

So, wait no longer

focus on now

and how to believe

 in the glory of today

The birdies are all here

distraction abounds

young hatchlings test wings

screeches, the sounds

We attempt to keep up

as time rushes past

but to stay in the moment

one need not move fast

All fall back, in this tree

of summer days gone by

 the new, shared with songs

’til again, some will fly

Flew in the sky

saw the cloud sea

Rode the swift rails

falling asleep

Sat on the top shelf

when not hopping off

Raced through the ground

hanging on, so tough

Walked miles and miles

up stairs and down

Then in ten different ways

repeated, to the first town

 After days of a dozen

zigzagged our way back

to the real wide world

with its own set of tracks

For the rest of my days

I will love you

hoping you believed

that taking your love

away from me

meant something

like strength of conviction

like it had to be done

I still can’t

make sense of it

since I’ve never been

able to get past how

“love one another”

turned into

“love the other

even when the other

doesn’t love you”

Still, I do

This heart belongs to others

friend, lover, mother’s gift

given away freely, bit by bit by bit

All a jumble, numbered by days

this mind is no one’s, not even mine

certainly doomed to be lost in time

But never to be stolen or sold

my soul is mine, mine alone

the greatest treasure I’ll ever own

Much to eyes delight

a cool blustery blows wispy whites

across clear blues

sunlit after four days, then nights

of  torrential pouring

So much the worth

when at last, winter finally wanes

Soaked in for growth

bright green, truly beautiful earth

presents fresh spring again
