I saw the old man running
running for his life
not away from someone coming
just to stay alive
he looked a man of 80 years
face focused and determined; I became endeared
marvelling that, run, he still could
thought him special, because he still would
in my eyes he became a young man
a mindful transformation, pleasantly unplanned
and though it was no marathon race he ran
I, instantly became, his biggest fan
This one reminded me so much of my grandfather. He lived his life fully and made sure to tell all about his adventures to us, his grandchildren. I wish I’d be able to do the same.
Yes, it’s so hopeful and nice for those who are able to do this and for the listeners of the stories as well. Thank you for your thoughts. π
A beautiful expression of wonder at a man who sounds like he’s living life to the full! I hope I’m that fit when I am 80 years old! xx
Me, as well! Thank you for reading.
Hopefully i will be that fit at that age. lol

A delightful description of how you saw more than just an old guy running.
Everyone should learn to ‘see’ things this way. π
Thanks for that… and thanks for visiting my blog. π
surprisingly reminds me of my dad…despite his age he still believes he is a young man and will run around chasing his grandchildren, kicking a football..enjoyed this cheers pete
Well, I guess age is really only in our minds; aside from the body parts. π Thanks, Pete
a very tender and sensitive poem…noticing the way our lives move faster as we age and how we end up running to keep up with it…i like the rhythm of your poem and the sweet rhyming…very nice…rooting for the man to win his race against time…
Thank you, Janice… in my mind, he has already won… thanks for coming here to read. π
