How can we justify our greed
when there are millions of people in need?
On plates at a restaurant, I see so much waste
and think, that some poor child would beg for just a taste
Many in my country continually acquire
much more than a comfortable living would ever require
Yet, the drive to attain is always there
instead of the thought of how to care
What ever happened to “share the wealth?”
The least we all could do
is that for each thing new we get
give double to a needy soul who has nothing, yet
It truly is right to let go of all greed
Giving is the treasure to be sown like the seeds
A beautiful smile will spread across our very own face
when we nurture others to thrive in this human race

honorable and admirable. I couldn’t agree with you any more. its a shame how so many people live compared to those without…and many of which are still in need in our own country.
I bow before the nobility of your thought, Heartspell.. I was truly moved by and totally agree with every word of this wonderful poem…
Instead of being greedy, if we just focussed a bit more on sharing that wealth (even by spreading a smile), this world would be a much more satisfying place to be…
Thanks for lovely poem, dear H…
I believe you already accepted when I nominate you.
Thank you for this beautiful award Jingle! 🙂

Ok…
this poem reflects your beautiful soul. I agree with each and every word you said. What happened to those days when rich were involved in daily charity?
one of the most beautiful was feeding, distributing clothes to poor.
There definitely needs to be more of that done on a daily basis around the world.
A sobering and touching piece, heartspell, I can feel your kind heart reach out through this beautiful poem… Well written 🙂
Thank you for the sweet thoughts. 🙂
Very well written..!! It’s shocking to witness how people really waste food in name of snobbery and “good manners”.. Very well written.. 😀 All the best always.. xoxox
Thank you, Olivia… wiil visit yours… thank you for the link. 🙂
Awww, this was so beautiful and so very true. We have so much…and even something as easy to give as a smile is difficult to share for some. Beautiful poem.
Thank you for the kind words… smile on… 🙂
a heartfelt poem on the frailty of humanity- great heartspell..
Only we humans can change that into strength…. I will do my part… thank you, Kris.
Nice flow and the rhyme just falls in place without effort. Good meditation on greed.

Excellent poem
Thank you for the kind thoughts.
You are a true lover of souls, heartspell. And you are right. We need to share our blessings with others in need. Thank you for this beautifully written epistle. Blessings to you…
And to you, my friend…
Even more so I am aware of this fact coming from South Africa…if only people would open their eyes, not just live for themselves, the world will be a better place. It is so refreshing to see you write about the one thing that most people overlook not just don’t want to know. Thanks so much for this heartfelt poem my dear friend. I send you lots of love oxoxoxoxoxxo 🙂 xx
I guess you have seen many hungry people and people in need… I know they are there and even in the “land of so-called Plenty” many are starving or struggle to stay warm…I believe it does not have to be this way, if only everyone would give what they could to those in need…we don’t even have to be Robin Hoods to do that. 🙂 Thanks for the love…. my plate has just what I need…. xoxoxoxoxo
🙂 Heartspell
sharp, you have said what I wanted to say, yet failed to do so.
beautiful greed poem.
inspiring and fun read.
You did not fail, Jingle… there is no failure in writing from your heart as you do and I for one love your words. 🙂 Heartspell
One thing that strikes me is that every major religion…touts the importance of sharing…yet few follow their own doctrines…so much more could be done with just a little sharing.
Yes, just imagine if we all just contributed what we were able, to even things out, perhaps no one would have to be hungry or go unclothed…. then our Lord would have the best market and thrift store ever. 🙂
