Not one is ever old

as each becomes the new

and if the truth be told

the happy is up to you

So remember the best things

from the one before

and as in, it begins to ring

just add on a whole lot more

Then even if you need look back

perhaps in grateful retrospect

there should be no noticeable lack

for any could be the best one yet

The wishes are never for sadness

with confetti, hugs, kisses, and fun

all this expands the gladness

as in celebration, the new year has begun

It began in celebration of a boy

father and mother filled with living joy

Thus, the gift of one child

taught others how to give

and for those who looked closely

shed light on the way to live

following on a journey

in search of a dream land

where miracles are born

where peace is at hand

This gift, this child, was sent

so others could learn to care

this love, the greatest gift, will shine on

each time we make the choice to share

So give of your time

give, so you can take part

give freely of yourself

then love will fill up your open heart

Never searched for the limelight

though I still might

shine

sometimes

like sunshine, warm and bright

or become some starlight

twinkling

eyes blinking

But I choose heartlight

buried, out of sight

 glowing

ever flowing

all day, then like a nightlight

hoping I just might

be a guide

while I reside

to set things upright

in love’s true light

its ways divine

not silver, not golden, nor lime

just true, and pure white

Yet we’re fool enough

to blame it on another part

It’s not about feelings; it’s choice

that drags out the beatings

of our brainless hearts

watching, waiting

for the seeds you’ll sow

waiting, watching

it is what we chose

watching, waiting

so this story goes

waiting, watching

at times it seems slow

watching, waiting

we weep like the willow

waiting, watching

but somehow we know

watching, waiting

our love will echo

waiting, watching

in your tomorrow

Tasting the salt on my lips

I wash the dust down the drain

to prepare my best for the day

as another year passes from your life

Somehow this seemed important

like the strength of never giving up or in

could somehow make everything right

But while I stare out the kitchen window

I can only wonder at how much longer

either of us will have to pretend

in words that should last

beyond this day, since

years, do just rush past

These fence words I’ve picked

will stay here until

time has been licked and

the need to stand still

Then I and the fence

will come to know

 the wind’s blowing, hence

over will we go

By then, it won’t mean

 a thing, if that side

is greener than green

when the fence collides

with the earth, and I

am lifted so high

swirled around in mirth

amid true blue skies

looked at those eyes

thinking to herself

WHO are you ?

Not like, who do you think you are

though that certainly

would have been appropriate

But no, this was much deeper

like someone had stepped

into his body and taken over

She missed a good portion of

what he was saying

because her mind kept sensing

the incongruity of the image

standing in front of her

and the stranger  that seemed

to subliminally present itself

She kept having the feeling

that introductions should be made

Then the question would vanish

from her thoughts

allowing her to

pay more attention

to his words

After it was over

she couldn’t remember much

just the sound of an angry voice

mixed with her own sadness

that a choice had been made

and still, that question
